Two Degrees, One Department
Students enjoy a close-knit, family feel in the department while still benefiting
from the strengths of both the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology
and the Ferguson College of Agriculture. Biosystems Engineering (BE) integrates life
and agricultural sciences with engineering to address sustainability in food supply,
natural resources, energy, and health. Agricultural Systems Technology (AST) applies
practical technology and managerial skills to solve challenges in agricultural, food
and natural systems.

Biosystems engineering students nearing completion of their undergraduate work participate
in a design course spanning two semesters. The outcome of this capstone experience
is a finished design presented to corporate sponsors and other industry professionals.
