UNIV 1111 Student Academic Mentors
UNIV 1111 is the first-year seminar course required of all OSU freshmen students. Throughout the course, students learn tools, skills and tips to be successful at OSU, including use of data systems, methods of study, major requirements, career preparation and advising, time management and more. Ferguson College Student Academic Mentors (SAMs) assist with sections of UNIV 1111 dedicated to students in our college and serve as mentors and group discussion facilitators within the class.
Leadership Opportunity
Through this leadership role, returning students have the opportunity to assist new students with their transition to OSU and the Ferguson College of Agriculture by answering questions and providing guidance from a student’s perspective. Ferguson College SAMs also assist the course professor with class activities, announcements, group activities and facility tours.
