I am Pei Jia Ng, an international student from Malaysia. I am currently a PhD student and also a research assistant under Dr. Ramanjulu Sunkar. Before I got accepted into Oklahoma State University, I studied in a program called American Transfer Degree Program in Inti International College Penang, Malaysia for two years and then transferred to OSU to proceed my bachelor’s degree. In 2018, I received my BS in Biochemistry. During my undergraduate study at OSU, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Robert Matts on the research about breast cancer cells MCF-7 (Michigan Cancer Foundation-7). In this research, treated and untreated MCF-7 is tests with induced Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) inhibitor. The hypothesis of this research is to compare the effectiveness of the up-regulated and down-regulated in two-dimensional or three-dimensional proteins of HSP90. I found this research is rewarding because I have enthralled by the complexity of this study. I am so looking forward to discover more in depth about the field of Biochemistry, which is why I applied for graduate college at OSU. In 2018, I started PhD program at OSU and I am now working under Dr. Sunkar's lab. My research is focusing on the epigenetic regulations of microRNAs in Arabidopsis thaliana under abiotic stresses.
